Either way, I see where he's coming from. I think he played to play last season, now he just hates Thompson and McCarthy.
He retired, then changed his mind and wanted to play. I wanted to see him come back for one more season as much as the next guy, but this is simply not a case where his "revenge" is justified. Every time I read about this crap, I lose more respect for the guy. He's really making himself look stupid with this shit.
Though to be fair, this is simply an "insider" speculating what his potential motivations would be. Favre hasn't actually said anything about this.
Agreed on the revenge thing. If it is true or not, I wonder if it's better for his 'legacy' to retire and end the way it did, or to try to get your 'revenge'.

its just the fact that it is even an option at this point to come back just to play against the packers. i will never say the guy cant play, but there has to be an end sometime.
Fuck him. I heard about this today and my respect for him has dropped at LEAST 90%. I still have a small sliver of hope for him, but he's just getting fucking stupid. Once I officially hear that he's done, I was about to plan a road trip to see him inducted into the HOF... but now, it's doubtful. What will this be, his 5th time of retiring and coming back?
I thought it was a bunch of bullshit when Trent Dilfer of all people sent him a text and was "trying" to start the rumor... now it's as far as his agent looking for a QB coach for Favre to hire and come down to his house and train him while he "contemplates" returning. Fuck that. FUCK him.
Vikings have said that if he comes back and plays for them, that needs to show up for offseason activities. I think that will turn him off more than anything.

He didn't come out and say he will play.
His team was 8 and 3 last year and beating up on a lot of people.. he got injured and couldn't make the throws he normally could but still tried to and it got him in trouble. The dude is still on fire and nearly indestructable.
I'll never lose respect for him. At the end of his career he still wants to play, he CAN play, and teams are willing to let him. He plays for the love of the game and yo ucan tell.. even if some of the reason is revenge the guy is just fucking entertaining to watch. I don't think he should pull a Warren Moon or Testicleverde where they just go team to team every year and be backup with a chance to play. If teh Vikings want him in, and will start him, I say go for it!

His ability is irrelevant at this point. His legacy is destroyed as far as I'm concerned, given his shenanigans of the past two years. He's gonna retire, he's not gonna retire. He doesn't want to play, then he wants to play but is angry when the team has moved on. Now he wants revenge because they didn't put everything on hold on the off chance that he might change his mind. Honestly, fuck him. I hope the Vikings DO sign him just so he can come into Lambeau late in the year (you know, after he's lost interest and has decided to retire again) and make a fool of himself. Any respect I had for him (which was a LOT, the guy is the epitome of an ironman) has been canceled out by the way he's acted since his last "retirement" from the Packers. It certainly wasn't ALL his fault that it went down the way that it did, but he's being ridiculous about it now.
It IS all his fault. HE RETIRED!!!!!!! GO AWAY!!! Go play with the Vikings, I will boo you in Nov. when you come to Lambert field, and cheer when you are sitting in Canton. He pisses me off but when i look back and think of Favre's career it will be mostly '96 season and that pass he through in Detroit across his body and across the field 60yds deep to Sharpe for 6. I will remember him being an idiot and doing the retiring dance, but will always be a #4 fan.
PS It makes sense for the Vikings to try and get a qb right now to make a superbowl run. The mistake was not going for Cutler. They have a 2 year window b4 they cant afford their own guys. Peterson, Hutchinson, and Allen's contracts are all end heavy and will put the Vikings in a world of hurt in the near future.

Adam did make a good point that if Favre did come back and play for the Vikings, look at the NFC North's QB lineup. Stafford (a lot better than the Lions ever had, already), Cutler, Rodgers, and Favre. Will be pretty good competition in the NFC North... but I just hate the fucking games this guy is playing. Make up your fucking mind already you giant woman.

Boo all you want... say his 'legacy' is ruined, nobody cares. As far as I'm concerned a legacy really isn't worth shit.. it is remembering when you played.. I'd much rather watch him KEEP playing than just think about past games. SO he is being a pansy and flip flopping, who fucking cares. I don't pay attention to football for anything other than the 3 hours they are on the field playing. They can do whatever they want so long as they entertain me on the field and all things aside Favre is a legend on the field, period.
As a fan of football we should all be excited for him to keep playing. If your not then what the fuck do you get out of the sport? It's not like they are pulling Bradey to put in Favre or some shit like that.. he is replacing empty positions. I can almost guarentee that the Jets have not had the fans and following they had last year since Nameth. Football is entertainment, he entertains, I don't see the fucking problem.

I never did get ANY athlete that would play for the same team for 15+ years and then go to another team for a year, another team for another year... then finally retire. Why? Just fucking retire with the team you made something out of, made yourself...
He should have retired as a Packer and just enjoyed his millions of dollars instead of all the shenanigans leading up to this
