Exactly. He decided he wanted to retire and then changed his mind. He could have come back and competed with Rodgers and more than likely WON the starting job for another year, but his ego couldn't handle that. No, he had to be THE guy no matter what the circumstances. He was selfish and dumb about the whole thing. He told them he was quitting, they moved on like they HAD to do, then he changed his mind at the last second and decided he wanted to come back. It was too late at that point and that's HIS fault. He can go on and on about how they didn't want him back and that's why he quit, but I saw his face after that championship game. He was DONE, it was obvious. But he changed his mind when the news started talking about football again and his name wasn't in the headlines. It's that attitude of "Hey, I'm Brett Favre so you should drop everything and welcome me back. Fuck the team, fuck the all the training you've already done to adjust your offense, I'm back and that's all that matters." that makes me just not give a shit about him anymore. I read all the stories that came out of the Jets locker room. By mid-season, most of those players couldn't even stand him anymore. He didn't give a shit about the team, he only gave a shit about himself. They tolerated it when they were winning, but as soon as he got hurt and started fucking up, the truth came out. That tells the tale about his real motivations and it is precisely why he can smoke a pole. He could have gone out a legend but instead, he pissed all over everything he built in Green Bay for 16 seasons.

If all you care about is watching him play, then none of this means anything and that's perfectly fine. But to me, it was WHO he was rather than just the entertainment value of what he did on the field. I always thought he was an honest, hard working noble guy who put team first no matter how bad it was hurting him. Turns out he's just a self-absorbed prima donna and a douchebag. Like Vasili said, he deserves to be booed at this point. Everything he did in Green Bay is undone by his actions of the past year and a half as far as I'm concerned. I'll still watch the highlight reels and enjoy watching the plays, but it won't be the same. Fuck him.

Yeah, 6 touchdown throws in a game, he aint got it no more.

He'll be in the hall of fame no matter what but I simply don't understand why nobody wants to watch the legend LIVE while he CAN still play and wishes he would quit and just be some pictures in a dusty building.

You can boo, bitch and moan, and say his 'legacy' is ruined. You are right, I just want to watch him play. What made me like Brett Favre? How he PLAYED the game, not how he looks in pictures behind a glass cabinet. If there is a chance for him to put in 16 more games I want him to take the chance. Sure he shouldn't have ever actually retired and all of it is just hot air but I still don't care about it.

He will be in the hall of fame for his performance on the field. Not because he was a noble guy, not because he wasn't selfish, blah blah blah, but because of what he did ON the field. That is what I want to see and the more I can have the better.

Thats the big difference JEBUS. You said yourself that your a 3hr gameday fan. Make fun of me as you will, but my following of the Packers and Brewers makes me feel as though i have an investment in these players. For 17 yrs I cheered my ass off for #4 and there is a feeling of betrayal when he un-retired. Now to un-retire a second time and to go to a rival is a stab in the back to me. I know its a dumb argument but its true. I guess its sad that i have an emotional and financial investment in these players, but its a way that millions of fans spend their time.

I know there is no such thing as loyalty left in sports, butt all i heard and saw was how Favre was a throwback. I never once thought he would play outside of Green Bay.

He doesnt have the same skills as he once did. He did have a 6 td game. During that game they threw the ball 3 times toward the end zone within in the 5 yd line. Not taking away from his ability but where was Thomas Jones, and why wouldnt you run there?????? Either way that is a nice milestone. Unlike the 22 interceptions the old man throw.

I'm invested in the player as well. I was really really bummed when he first retired but unlike most I was thrilled as shit that he was going to play again! I mean, I never pictured him as anything other than a packer either but i'm just as excited as fuck to watch the guy play the game.

I just don't feel betrayed in any way because the mass majority of my investment and interest in the packers was Brett Favre. As such I realized I was FAR more of a Brett fan than a Packer fan (other than my wisconsin native in blood commitment that is). As such, I had no issue watching my favorite player play on another team. It threw excitement into it and made 2 teams I wanted to watch.

So what if he thinks he is better than everyone in the locker room.. how do WE know what goes on in there? Maybe the players are all pissed that HE gets the attention and they don't? I just don't beleive all that. Maybe he wants to act better than everyone and have his own room, his own this, etc well I think the guy has earned it and everyone else can just fuck off. hell, most of the people on the entire jets team do not have the combined total starts in a row that this ONE player does.

I think you just don't see my side very much... I dig the guy, he is my braun as braun is to josh.. I just want to see him play regardless of team and reason!!

You pass on the 5 yard line because your percentage of likelyhood in getting 6 is higher with Favre, it just is.

I mean for fucks sake I draft Favre EVERY year in fantasy football, regardless if he is going to suck or not. I just like the guy and don't much care where he plays so long as he is still on TV making new things happen.

Seriously.. no injury last year and it could have been a VERY interesting playoffs. I'd like him to get in one more season, injury free. If he sucks, I'll be the first to trumpet the retire horn. he still has it.. maybe not the 70 yard bomb but the cannon can still hurt people.

He was near the top mid season pre-injury.

Doesn't matter, he turned down the Vikings anyway.

Maybe he can can change his mind again and try competing with senecca Wallace for 2nd string in seattle. Wasn't rodger's injured as well? How many other times has iron man Brett played injured, but this year it was an excuse?

    LOL

The guy was at top form before he fucked up his shoulder.... I have to give him that. But last year I blame more on the Packers than anything, as far as Favre goes. This year, if he would come back, no matter what team... is where I would start to question his ethics at an all new level.

  16. #36
So when is Favre going to run for governor of Wisconsin?

Yes, he retired, but he did that before and they allowed him to come back. What I meant was he wanted to come back, again, but the Packers essentially told him to fuck off..

Favre played injured many times but the injury wasn't a muscle in the throwing arm. Broken fingers, etc but the gun was never hurt till last season.

    Doesn't much matter anyway.

Well at least hes retiring and can now be on his way to the Hall but playing as a Jet for a season is still kind of lame , but then again plenty of other legendary QB's did the same so whatever

Hats off to Favre - future governor of Wisconsin
