FF 2010 preliminary discussion

Brad brought this up the other night, so I figured we can begin discussing it now. It's not that far away. I know we have a core group of people we can count on and we always managed to fill in the remainder with friends and family, so I am assuming we can continue playing this year. That having been said, how does everyone feel about Yahoo? I know we had discussed possibly switching to ESPN this year, but I've never actually used it beyond the mock drafts, so I'd like input from those with experience with both. I am personally very comfortable with Yahoo, but have zero issues making the switch if the consensus is that it would be a better choice. I'd also like a yay or nay if you plan on playing this year. A "probably" is good enough for now, I just need to get a rough count so I know what we're dealing with. I'm looking for 10, but will expand it to 12 if need be. And along those lines, if there are any aspects of our league that are directly affecting your decision to join, please make it known so we can address them. Not to put Brad on the spot, but I know he had an issue with not having fixed numbers of roster positions and I would like to avoid having those of us in the core group not join up over something that could possibly be changed with a majority vote. Ok shitheads, let's hear it....

Between differen't groups I usually end up using both espn and yahoo each year. I do prefer espn, but going with yahoo wouldn't stop me from participating. Can you maybe post up a list of the rules so we can decide what if any we want to see changed this year? (e.g. the roster spots like brad mentioned, etc.)

I did that last year and the year before, nobody had anything to offer, then many bitched. I'm very seriously considering having people sign a waiver stating that they have read and agree to all league rules and scoring settings and waive any right to bitch, complain, or demand money back. But yes, as usual, all settings will be posted for review.

I am in for sure,and whether it is Yahoo or ESPN makes no difference to me.As far as the rules last year was fine with me.Do any of you guys know of any openings in any other leagues?I would like to be in more than one league.

I said last year that I wouldn't play and I'll stick to that. Maybe next year.

The only thing I would like to see changed is the bonus points at 100 yards rushing/receiving and 300 passing. I think it's dumb to award a guy with 99 yards only 9 points, but a guy who gets 100 yards 15 points. Now if they really bust their ass and get the 200 rushing/receiving or 400 passing, that is something rare and deserves the bonus points.

That being said, I kinda agree with Dusto, 5 points seems to be a lot. As dumb as i am, a 3 point bonus seems ok for some reason. Just an idea. I dont even know if it can be done but i would like to see a bonus for "big plays" for example a pass or run for over 50 yds would receive a bonus.

Will this league have partial points? ex 96yds rushing is worth 9.6 points? If not i would suggest that.

Also im not a fan of the open bench spots, leads to to much ass-haterly. Thats my vote against it.

Partial points, yes. As far as the bonus, I can see toning that down a bit. We can set it to any value we want. The bench spots, eh. We haven't had much trouble with that in the past, and not having the ability to determine your own bench would result in zero player movement between teams IMO.
